WHAT IS THE TRAVEL WRITING LIFE REALLY LIKE? IS IT AS GREAT AS PEOPLE THINK? I HOPE TO COME TO SOME CONCLUSIONS AS I SHARE MY TRIPS AND TRAVAILS.

Winter Swimming in the Gulf of Bothnia

by Kent St. John on March 30, 2008

Sampo is the only passenger icebreaker in the world, a shame because it was such a great experience. Plowing through ice was great but the chance to plunge in the icy Gulf of Bothnia will linger in my mind forever.

Wow, Kent. I'm envious of you. I can't wait until I get my ass into gear and travel properly! I'll do exactly that…crack open the ice and plunge in. Were you able to go right under? How clear is the water? Am I being too romantic in imagining it would be some degree of surreal blue?
