Are you a Beatles fan? You can claim to be the biggest “Fab Four” fan on the planet but odds are good that Stephanie Hempel of Hamburg, Germany knows more. She’s like a Beatle-reincarnate.
Few people know that the English rock band actually got their start in Hamburg not Liverpool. They arrived in 1960 and played continuously for a three-year period in seedy clubs throughout the Red Light District of St. Pauli.
Stefanie Hempel took us on the Beatles Walking Tour that she created repeating juicy tidbits and citing locations where the “moptop” played, like Indra, a former strip club or Kaiserkeller, where they met Ringo Starr or the Star Club where only a sign is left of the memories.
She strikes up a cord on her new shiny black ukelele and sings any request you can think of. She insists you sing along.
