Tips for Solo Female Travelers

Wanderlust

Every year, thousands of females opt for a personal journey traveling solo in a foreign country. Sure, the dangers of doing so are higher than accompanied by a mate or friend, but sometimes the rewards are greater too.

When done with good judgement, risks are usually minimized. But, then again, you can take every precaution imaginable and end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. And, you don’t need to travel abroad to be victim; it could just as easily happen in your back yard.

That’s why, after reading an article entitled “Women Alert to Travel’s Dark Side” by Lauren Wolfe in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago, I want to encourage my sisters to visit the following websites. Days are longer in the summer but lets still be privy to what we need to do to stay safe.

1. The State Department Safety Tips
2. Rick Steve’s Tips for Solo Travelers
3. Lonely Planet Thorn Travel Forum
