Gross Spam as "Comments" on my Blog!

by Max Hartshorne on August 13, 2005

I just opened my email to find comments posted about yesterday’s post about Chinese Sweet Wormwood. BUT IT WAS SPAM! Some freakin’ auto loan outfit put up ‘comments’ pitching new car loans….in the guise of blog comments. This is a sinister development, one which I hope can be stopped. I used Blogger’s ‘hide comments’ button to trash the spam but I feel like they can creep back any time.

Bloggers, there must be a way to stop this…is this format just too tempting to marketers, is being able to get your spam message published on a highly ranked page worth such fraudulence? I will hide any of these if they creep in again.

A sultry and simmering August day. We are driving to Duxbury for a funeral for a friend’s dad who passed away. Colby Hewitt Jr. was a gregarious, fun loving man who lived a long and happy life, and saw all of his children succeed, and bounced grandkids on his knees. I am sorry to say good bye to him and glad that I can honor my old friend Bill by showing up at his service, with my lady Cindy by my side. Rest in peace, Colby.
