The Queue at the Enterance of Taj Mahal in the Evening

in Agra,queue,Taj Mahal

We (my two nephews and I) visited the Taj Mahal in July 23, 2006. We visited the monument in the morning and thought of spending some time again in the evening. But when we saw this queue, we gave up!

I’m glad that the queue was shorter on the morning my family and I visited the Taj. However, we had driven all the way there on an earlier occasion, only to find that the monument was closed to the public that day.

g.meter, I know there are camera issues at Taj! You should have bargained hard with the travel agency. But maybe that is why you will like to come back?Lily, so nice to hear from you. I will definitely like to take a look at your New Zealand pictures!

Hi Mridula! Seeing this queue makes me glad we got up at an indecently early hour to visit as we had no wait to get in and only a relatively few other people for company once inside. I would also like to see it at night. I’ve seen pictures from people who’ve boated down the river at sunset. I think I’d like to try that on our next visit. Thanks for stopping by to comment while we were on our trip and I’m glad you got the postcard. I’ve started sorting out pictures and uploading them to Flickr if you want to take a look.

I’ve visited the Taj in february morning 2006. There were not long queue. But to be honest, I was dissapointed because Taj’s security took off my JVC HDD video camera that worked as a photo-camera too. Plus, the tourist agency’s driver gave me only 1 hour for seeing Taj. I even have not seen the Yamuna river that is somewhere near. :( The Humayun Tomb in Delhi is smaller and not so beautyful as Taj, but I was much more satisfied with it.

Anil and Priyank, when we went there in the morning there was just a short queue, but in the evening, it became huge, in picture one can see only half of it :) Madhukar, yes 23rd was a Sunday :) but I think I wrote this on Sunday and went there on Saturday. But there is no way you could have known this and in the post I do say 23 July!Priyank, so sorry for the trouble. Actually, I was updating a few old posts, you can safely ignore them?Maverick, it must be something to see it in moonlight but have not figured out how to do it yet.Ajeya, in my experience mornings are certainly less crowded.Maryam thanks a lot for your comment and I agree with you. The only thing was we had been there in the morning, so we decided to give it a miss in the evening when we saw this huge queue. I hopped over to your blog and it is so very interesting!Cuckoo according tohttp://agra.nic.in/tourist.htmthe timings are 6 in the mornings to 7.30 in the evenings (Friday closed). I certainly have been inside the premises at 6.30 in the morning and it was still crowded!

Yes, the queue is very common there. One should go in the morning one hour before it opens.. around 8 o’clock. Right Mridula?

Ah, but the line is worth it to see such beauty! I have been to the Taj a handful of times and every time I was amazed anew.

i’ve been to the taj once, but in the morning. i shd say its an exhilarating experience for the first timers. But i’ve heard so much of it in the moon light, tht i’d surely want to go ther at night no matter wat :)

Was it always like this, this long queues? I don’t remember seeing such queues when I visited the Taj, but then that was long, long ago.
