In an ideal world this summer I would like to visit Ladakh again.
Look at the picture at the left, can you blame me if I yearn to be there again?
But when all I can manage is two to three days of leave, tell me where should I go?
I do not wish to take a flight, ideal journey would be by bus (but willing to take a train too) and I know I can’t reach much further than Rishikesh or something like that, give my time frame.
So if you know of any places around that (I have already been to Rajaji National Park) region or anything else, do let me know.
I definitely need to travel and soon.
Or else my head will burst.
And ‘death by grading’ is over, finally.

Well, its easy not to know about Morni Hills. With higher mountains not far away, the place does not get too much publicity and tourists. I know it because my mother’s family had farms nearby.
Atul, I have been a guest Shervani (same people run Chatel Naldehra) You are recommending expensive properties. The most prominent monastries that I know of in Ladakh are Spitok and Hemis. But then I have very limited knowledge of the region. One trip to Ladakh is not enough! And June end July is a good time to visit. Anon, thank you.Rajeev, can you believe it? I opened the comment box to suggest,if not tried already, river rafting in Shivpuri near Rishikesh and I find Anu has suggested it already.
If you haven’t tried rafting, or willing to do it again, u must go to rishikesh. though i don’t know how much longer it would be open in May. you would have to find out. It is a must-do activity. Floating in the middle of the Ganges is something you can’t afford to miss. I can give you a reliable guide’s phone no. if you want.
How ’bout Corbett or Dudhwa National Parks ? I hear they have nice wildlife viewing opportunities.

Here are my suggestion:1. If you’re a history buff, you could go to Kalibangan, Rajasthan and see the one of the largest indus valley cities.2. Or you could head to the hills of Ranikhet, Almora, but not Nainital thats all too crowded now.
Will have to be somewhere in Himachal Pradesh, I suppose. How about some place that is not a tourist destination at all?:P
