The Dream of Antarctica- Alive is Awesome

2041 is a significant year for Antarctica because the no drilling no mining treaty that governs the area is coming up for a global review. And Sir Robert Swan along with his NGO 2041 works for the preservation of Antarctica and the environment. One of their mission is also to spread awareness about the 2041 treaty.

People who read this blog know that I applied for their International Antarctica Expedition and I was selected. But trying to raise $22,000 thousand has been an emotional roller coaster experience! Maybe I don’t know how to market myself, maybe I am not able to target relevant corporate bodies. But it has started me on the path of continuous self-improvement. After all there are things out there that are bigger than me, things that I can’t do alone, things for which I need to stretch out!

All I have been able to raise is $ 701 from family and friends. But I am quite determined. If I can get sponsorship, I am sure I would be singing from the rooftops that Alive is Awesome.

After all Antarctica captures the imagination of any traveler and I am no exception. Coupled with a cause it has become a dream I cannot ignore. Let us see when it becomes a reality! I can only imagine how the journey would be where crossing of the Drake Passage is just the beginning!

Sounds fantastic. I truly hope you are able to raise the funds sometime because your passion for travel is remarkable and you’d do great with an opportunity like that.
