Green Dish

There are two things you can always count on in a college town – pizza and pot. Actually, it was neither that caught my fancy but rather lunch at the Green Bowl in State College today.

You line up cafeteria-style at a trough of canisters filled with every type of Asian vegetable you can image. Load it up with bamboo shoots, Bok Choy, sugar snap peas, tofu, water chestnuts and cellophane noodles.

Then top off the mix with one or more of their 20 sauces. The list includes flavors like ginger soy, oyster, pineapple curry, Szechuan, teriyaki and of course, peanut sauce.

Finally, pick a meat: chicken, beef, shrimp or crab. Want a wrap or a bowl? They can do both.

Wait 10 minutes for the cook to stir fry the ingredients together and, voila, you’ve got yourself a healthy meal that you have only yourself to blame if you don’t like the taste.

Sounds better than pizza or pot, don’t ya think….?
