I love Irish films, usually visually stunning. How could they not be with Ireland as the location. With the use of Apple TV I had an Irish Film Festival this week, Irish history makes compelling stories. Last night the movie was The Wind That Shakes the Barley, it takes place in 1920’s and is about the early IRA and concerns males from a village that have hard choices to make. After the treaty between Ireland and Britain giving Dominion status, the men have to decide if they will fight pro (Michael Collins side) or against. Like our own Civil War it caused father against son and brother against brother. Put in a love story and you have a movie that works and works well. Here are full details. It was never released in the US.
