Singers, songwriters and musicians Shelly Morningsong and her husband Fabian Fontenelle are the main attractions at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Together, they perform tribal beats and dance from their Native American heritage.
Morningsong’s velvet smooth vocals are purposely and precise and her flute playing mimics a rhythmic trance.
Fontenelle’s wears a 40-pound dress decorated with ancestral imagery and melodic instruments. He moves like a warrior, performing complex dance moves in cadence with the lyrical narratives.
Combining traditional themes with contemporary influences has earned the duo multiple accolades. Their sacred and ceremonial performance is really quite mesmerizing.
