The Sandia Peak Tram had been closed for 2 days because of flurries but we got lucky and boarded when it opened briefly last evening.
At 2.7 miles, Sandia used to be the world’s longest tram but Kazakhstan now boasts that title. Still, the ascending vertical ride to 10,378 feet is dizzying.
The 15-minute ride takes you high above the Cibola National Forest and over deep canyons of pink granite. The rock walls offer popular rock climbing opportunities, long hikes and skiing the gentle slopes descending down the east side.
