Lonely Planet Picks the Hudson Valley

Pilot's Log I’ve been extolling the wonders of the Hudson River Valley for years, now Lonely Planet names it the “Top 10 U.S. Travel Destinations for 2012.”

Lonely Planet is known for highlighting charming day trips that the mainstream travel media regularly miss. After the Virgin Islands, the Catskill region is the #2 destination pick for adventurers looking for unique, “travel-like-a-local” experiences.

Lesser known are the hiking trails on the quartz cliffs of the Shawangunks (“Gunks” for short), Kate’s (Kate Pierson of the B-52’s) Lazy Meadow Motel near the famous Woodstock and my recent trip to Henry’s Farm to Table restaurant.
