A Sense of Urbanity in Downtown SLC

The City Creek Center is the only shopping district in the U.S. to feature a retractable roof, a babbling brook and two 18-foot waterfalls.

On the first day in Salt Lake City last month the media was invited for a sneak preview of the mall with the President of Michigan-based Taubman architects.

Some of us were given $50 gift certificates to explore the inside of boutique retails like Porsche Design, Salomon, Caché, Bose, Tiffany & Co, Michael Kors, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Love Culture, ZAGG including luxury chains Nordstrom and Macy’s.

The sustainable shopping mecca took 10 years to build at a cost of over $1.5 billion.

Another impressive characteristic – the three unique fountains built by the designers of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. All are musically choreographed animations using the elements of fire and water.
