While working at the Capitol today, I slipped inside the Empire State Plaza Convention Center for the announcement of $1 Million in funding to support Governor Cuomo’s new “Path Through History” tourism campaign.

This is a win-win initiative throughout New York State and especially exciting for cultural, historical and heritage buffs.

Over 200 of New York’s key moments in the categories of Arts and Culture, Canals and Transportation, Civil Rights, Colonial History, Native Americans, The Revolutionary War, Women’s Rights, Sports and many more will be highlighted with bright yellow signs. The signage will be placed along the New York State Thruway, along major roadways and throughout towns.

You may have already noticed the new brown Heritage Corridor signs, like the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor marker at Exit 41 on the New York Thruway.

With so many historical treasures in upstate New York it’s a thrill to know that the displays will attract more tourism to the area.
