The Town of Perinton is know as “Trail Town USA” for good reason. Between the Erie Canal Heritage Trail, the Perinton Hikeway-Bikeway (RS&E Trolley Trail) and the Crescent Trail network of footpaths, nearly every resident in Wayne County is within 15 minutes of a trail. In fact, the National Park Service named Perinton, NY one of the top ten Trail Towns in the USA.
With the weather topping off at 59 degrees today, Mutti and me, along with her pet pooch Renee, tackled a slim but muddy stretch of the 35-mile Crescent Trail System. We proceeded on the orange blazed trail through the historic hamlets of Bushnell’s Basin and Egypt. Quaint little bridges helped us stay clear of low-lying marsh land, paths roped around new development McMansions and the summits of Indian, Horizon and Thayer Hills offered birds-eye views of Rochester in the distance.
With the additional time-savings we had a longer day to keep walking.
