Marriage is not the popular institution it once was in Germany but bachelor/bachelorette parties were in full swing all over Stuttgart on Saturday. The city was celebrating their annual Summer Festival complete with gastronomy, music, performances, kids games and craft tents.
The dry weather attracted scores of Germans to a make-shift beach atop the Kaufhof shopping mall to smoke hookas, lounge in hammocks and mingle with friends. The panaroma offer views of a valley blanketed by vineyards, a 12th century tradition that thrives despite a dense population.
Up until the 19th century, viticulture was the city’s principal source of income. Today, the automobile, banking and research industry keep this city booming with 0% unemployment. Reason enough to party regardless if you’re getting married!
