Harvest Time in the Capital Region

Thatcher and Indian Ladder Farms

Indian Ladder Wide

Jack PYO
Why are Jack’s teeth so white? Apples, of course! Look Ma, no cavities!

The perfect assignment; a day at Indian Ladder Farms and Thatcher Mountain on a glorious Autumn day. Few gigs can compete with a job like this.

Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple picking, petting zoos, face painting and pig races – Upstate New York is the premier agritourism destination for all. Our area beholds lively Fall Festivals inside historic Dutch barns and among acres of gourdes, cornstalks and hay bales.

My friends with rugrats wait all year for this season. They claim it’s “for the kids” but we all know better.

Here’s a list of 10 PYO or ‘pick your own’ favorites. Many on this list are bigger farms but there are also plenty of smaller hidden gems without school buses taking up parking space or long lines at the register.

Regardless where you go the best time for picking ripe bounties is NOW so if you have a favorite, please comment with their website and address.
