America’s most bike-friendly city
There’s some strange art along the Midtown Greenway Bike Path in Minneapolis: a random suit of armor, bronzed shoes bolted to a park bench, hip hop tagging. But it all sums up another reason why Minneapolis is ranked the best biking city in America.
My last day here I rented a 3-speed Nice Ride and pedaled the city like a tourist. A short 30-minute commute is free but exceed that time like I did and suffer some serious fees. Live and learn.
Midtown Greenway is one of dozens of ‘rails to trails’ that crisscross Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Mississippi river. Most of the Midwest area is flat with a few hilly challenges along the banks and is gratefully absent of traffic and congestion.
