Moscow’s Beautiful Metro System
The Moscow Metro opened in 1935 as the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union. Today, the Moscow Metro has 186 stations that run as deep as 275 feet underground and nearly two hundred miles.
Check out the hundreds of Gothic chandeliers and bronze candlesticks that adorn the Metrostroy station, our Russian friends favorite. Former Communist leader Joseph Stalin is credited with building the extravagant station among many more.
