The Great, Great Barrington Black-out

The mini-cation started wonderfully, great Mexican food for lunch and shopping at my favorite antique store featuring goods from around the world. Then back to a Days Inn, one of the few places I could find late on a long holiday weekend, fine though. The TV has the Giants playoff game and everything needed within reach. In fact so cold we ordered dinner delievered so we could really just chill.

THEN, power grinds to a halt, olny the light of the one candle we brought to guide us. The desk guy tells me no problem be a matter of minutes. Slowly the bitter cold fills the room. The feast we ordered from a specialty shop arrives. Like eating with a blindfold, colder also to the point of down coats and spare sweaters. Finally we just let the desk know we are spliting. NO we have a sister motel, I know the place and do not want to step on hypo needle left from the last guest. Just a refund please. Eventually after some convincing they find us a room at the owner’s other place, this time a Comfort Inn. That works there actually well, comfortable. I wonder how there are all of the sudden there are rooms open. We pack up and move get settled to try and watch the rest of the game. Nope the power goes off. I wonder how the power problem begins anyway no wind clear weather… Please, who ever services the city of Great Barrington, please get your stuff together. Days Inn don’t palm me off on a skid row motel. Go straight to making things right and offer the Comfort Inn right off the bat, saves a lot of energy…
