Ever since I picked Johnny Jet’s site over 10 years ago as a site to check as a contributing editor for Transitions Abroad, I have been lucky to meet some enterprising travel writers. Johnny has carved a great niche and it is well deserved. Two come to mind as doing exactly what they told me they wanted to do, a book. Not an easy undertaking as I am finding out but I am encouraged by both Karen Schaler and Claire Bidwell Smith.
Claire’s second book is called Rules of Inheritance and is getting rave reviews from all corners. I had the pleasure of traveling with Claire down in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Claire is a great conversationalist and caring person. Karen first mentioned writing a book after we had a fun but rough day rappelling and climbing through Puerto Rico’s caves and hills. She wrote Travel Therapy, a great selling book that has been popular since it first went out. She honored me by letting me write a blurb for the back cover. Karen now also does a gig for ABC and her potential to reach the peak a given. Proud of them both and wonderful inspiration to myself as well as others with a dream.
