In Love With El Monte Sagrado, Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection

Spread the love

I pulled out of the Whitten Inn, a one-time chain motel on a snowy morning in Taos. I wasn’t sure if I was going to stay one more night in Taos or not, until, I was pulled down Kit Carson road. My lodging radar was on and working, I saw the El Monte Sagrado. Okay easy decision one more night in Taos. The El Monte as it turns out was a new member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, also part of the Kessler Collection.

I checked in and then checked out casita 33 and it was very chic in a southwestern understated way. Very nice, I’m a sucker for a kiva fireplace. The elk horned lighting fixtures also a draw. The space was a bit small I thought but then I went into the huge bathroom and it seemed to make the whole casita larger. With a front patio, (another outdoor fireplace) and fenced in back patio it really grew on me.

The property is beautiful and very green friendly, this place just kept getting better and better as I explored before heading out for the day, a 10A.M. check in was just plain wonderful. I had a full day and it was a pleasure to return, time to check out some 10,000 pieces of artwork that fill the Lodge. I am also happy to report the dinner I had there was great and the menu had many choices for all moods. Prices for dinner excellent and surroundings matched. Already I am looking forward to checking in to other Marriott’s Autograph Collection places, the El Monte Sagrado was a winner.
