Slow Summer

I began the day by reading this delightful article On Eating Alone in Paris. There’s something so self-affirming about being alone and not feeling lonely. It’s like telling yourself, “Hey girl, I like spending time with you!”

As I was reading the piece on dining solo, I was reminded of a lovely little write-up by my aunt about a rare flower on her window … Read the rest

All Things Autumn

Autumn in New England is not to be taken lightly. It’s when the green around us gets replaced by flaming oranges and bright reds and golden yellows, but not for long. Soon most of the color will disappear, and slowly but surely, frosty white will take its place.

Amidst the maple pecan lattes, blushed cheeks, fall fashion, and seasonal delights, there’s a sense of time … Read the rest

Happy Earth Day – Hiking New Hampshire’s Mt Kearsarge

Last year around this time, we were planning a hike up New Hampshire’s Mt. Kearsarge with our four year old. We visited the nearby¬†McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center as well. Unfortunately, I wasn’t visiting this blog space as often as I do now, so the ups and downs of the hike (both literally and figuratively) has been stowed away as a fun memory. Surprisingly, Newport featured twice in our travels, the first time was when we did the Cliff Walk with my parents and then during Christmas. I wrote a couple of posts about foodie trends (eating local and … Read the rest

Choo Choo! To Story Land We Go!

On his first birthday, we took our son to Story Land, which is this amusement park in the village of Glen in New Hampshire. I love going back to the mountainous Granite State, and couldn’t think of a better place to toast ourselves on having completed a year of parenthood.

Story Land is a sprawling park and you may not get a chance to see … Read the rest

Wayside Moose

New Hampshire on Columbus Day weekend is best avoided. Hotels hike up their rates so you end up paying 160 bucks for a room with rusty bath tubs and cobwebs everywhere. Even some of the lesser-known routes are not spared by leaf-peepers, thanks to all the “off the beaten path” stories doing the rounds. We were there to celebrate our son’s first birthday in Story … Read the rest
