Last month, I treated Mutti to a mid-week overnight at this federal-style gem with sturdy white columns and imposing front portico. Suffices to say, we’re still talking about our beloved accommodations!
Named after the Iroquois expression “A Place of Meetings,” the Otesaga Resort Hotel offers accommodations for more than Baseball Hall of Famers or insurance group gatherings. As luck would have it, I entered the lobby side-by-side with Olympic gold medalist Dick Button, one of world’s premier male figure skaters.
Mom and I are like fish-out-of-water when we bask in new environs. As soon as we checked in, we beelined it to the outdoor pool wrapped in the hotel’s plush bath robes for a soak. Cut down the hedgerow that wraps around the blue waters and it could easily be called an “infinity” overlooking Otsego Lake.
The outdoor pool was heated but, surprisingly, bereft of bodies, leaving us plenty of elbow room for easy laps. Getting out of the pool to dry off in the brisk October temps took a feat of strength but doing so gave me the time to interview Bob and drone the property.
Before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the hotel is extending invites for November too with rates starting at $199.
