Valentine’s Detox in P-Town
I’ve had enough of reality. Time to get away. A refuge away from political frustrations and scary headlines would be nice. My mate offered up the perfect antidote on Thursday: a romantic, windswept, seaside sojourn to Provincetown. Perfect!
But,it’s the dead of winter? you ask. Exactly! Off-season means zero traffic on Bourne bridge, lower BnB rates, plenty of parking in town, no need for restaurant reservations and unfettered access to all the beaches.
Thank you to our friend, Michele O’Connor (Michele’s Charcoal Pit food truck) for opening up her cozy cottage rental to us for the weekend. The corner classic sits on a quiet stretch of Commercial Street, across the street from the beach with water views from nearly every window.
Floor-to-ceiling Wainscoting welcomed us to a sitting room dotted with Etsy-like motifs: fine art wall hangings by Michele’s mother-in law, glass jars of starfish and shells presumably found on the shoreline, comfy leather furniture, flat screen TV and window frames turned into mirrors.
The bathroom included plenty of towels and linens and the kitchen was loaded with dishes, cooking supplies, even a Keurig machine. Empty dog dishes reminded us that pets are allowed but we wisely left our barking duo with the sitter.
The cozy 2 bed/2 bath warmed up quickly too with plenty of rugs to heat the wide-plank hardwood floors. Sleep came easy after exploring the town until sundown but more on that in the next blog.
