The Travel Dam is About to Burst

The Dam Will Burst –Soon I’ll be back on the Road

I’m feeling good about the ultimate end of this pandemic.  It’s not because I don’t believe in wearing masks and being safe, it’s just that it’s been too long, and I can’t hold back the travel dam much longer.

So far I’ve got a trip planned for the Southern Tier of New York state. We will be staying at three hotels near and around the Finger Lakes in July,  the Chautauqua Hotel, Watkins Glen, and a third property owned by the same outfit.  So far it doesn’t sound scary, it sounds like my old life.

The trip will bring us the National Comedy Center in Jamestown NY which I visited a few years ago, a temple dedicated to comedy which was very entertaining.

Cattaraugus County really impressed me last visit in 2018, with its rolling fields, beautiful views, and cool attractions like the giant sculpture garden Griffis Sculpture Park, and the very cool ski town of Elliotville, where every bar was better than the next.  This trip there will be less hand-holding, and more of our own exploring, in the spirit of Covid.

But I think it will be a lot of fun to hit the road after such a long time going now where.

I’m also discussing a trip on Amtrak, to re-discover how the railroad is providing new services like their private rooms.  I am thinking of a trip to Chicago or to Atlanta. Maybe solo.
