Last week, I was supposed to take a trip to New Orleans and Lafayette, Louisiana, and had to cancel the trip. I was none too happy about it. Diane and I had heard about a couple of cooks from New Orleans who opened a place in Charlemont, Mass.
So we jumped in the car and made the half-hour trip from Northampton to Wells Provisions to taste what I was missing.
Wesley & Levi Jannsen are both veterans of the New Orleans restaurant scene. They have created a fantastic Market-Cafe in the hill towns of western Massachusetts that oozes southern hospitality and good food. The food is solid, and the Market has a plethora of offerings to pack back home. Check them out.
